Founder, Rosi, takes charge and creates a club where BBW
(Big Beautiful Women) and their male admirers can dance, make new friends and have fun.
For as long as Rosi could remember she has been a big girl. She dated a guy who liked
BBW, and during that time she didn't know what the term referred to. She made an online
search for the BBW term, and soon discovered there are clubs in existence that cater to
girls just like herself.
"I had to experience this, so I headed north to the Los Angeles, CA area where I
had the most amazing night," recalls Rosi. "I felt so comfortable and realized
that just because I am a big girl doesn’t mean I am not beautiful."
For several weeks, Rosi made the trip back to the BBW club in the Los Angeles area,
which took her an hour and half just to get there. She then decided that San Diego needed
a place just like the club in Los Angeles for BBW to party at. So, she created her own
social club and named it Club Venus.
The positive situation about the creation of Club Venus was its vicinity to the
founder's home, as the nearest BBW club from San Diego was in Costa Mesa. There were
unfavorable periods she encountered in this new BBW club venture too. "I was doing it
all by myself and the club was so lonely with less than 20 people throughout the whole
night," Rosi mentions. "Keeping persistent was the key to its success and not
letting those bad nights get me down."
Persistence has prevailed, as it's now over two years since its founder
created Club Venus. "I'm happy to say that Club Venus has exceeded my
expectations," Rosi says. "I wanted it to be a place where BBW can have fun and
dance, but it's much more than that. I have seen so many friendships develop because
people have a place to come together and socialize at Club Venus."
Club Venus is located near a Naval base, so there are usually about 40-50%
men to the ratio of women who attend the evening events. The male members that join want
to meet big gals, and are BBW admirers. They come in all shapes and sizes, from skinny,
tall, short, big or muscular, and of all races and creeds, but it seems they all have
something in common, they love big beautiful women.
Club Venus does not discriminate, and any ladies should feel comfortable
joining too, as there is no size requirement to join in. "Size acceptance means just
that, size acceptance," Rosi states. "We've had women size 0 party with us, and
had a great time."
A night out at Club Venus involves socializing and dancing to music
supplied by the club's DJ. The music consists of Old School, Hip Hop, R & B, Reggae
and Salsa. The events are at nightclubs that have their own bar and serves beverages that
can contain alcohol. There is a cover charge to get in, and you must be 21 or over to
attend.
In the past year, Club Venus has doubled in membership and now have
anywhere from 90 to 120 people attend a party event. Most of the club's members attend the
events about 90% of the time. "We have a dedicated following," Rosi tells us.
"We presently have two couples who met at one of the club's events, and each is still
having a strong relationship after 6 months of dating."
Club Venus has done some fashion shows on occasion. They have considered
fashion modeling, and a calendar may be in the works in the near future.
